Cookie Policy

What are cookies?

Cookies are small text files placed on your device by websites you visit. They are widely used to make sites work, improve performance, and provide information to the site owner.

Cookies we use

StompLab uses only strictly necessary cookies required for the site to function. We do not use advertising, profiling, or third-party tracking cookies.

Cookie Purpose Duration
stomplab-session Maintains your login session and keeps temporary state across page loads. Until browser closes
XSRF-TOKEN Security token that protects against cross-site request forgery (CSRF) attacks. Until browser closes
remember_web_* Keeps you signed in across browser sessions. Only set when you tick "Remember me" at login. 30 days

Analytics cookies

With your consent we use Google Analytics (GA4) to understand how visitors use the site. These cookies are only set if you click Accept all on the cookie banner.

Cookie Purpose Duration
_ga Distinguishes unique users by assigning a random identifier. 2 years
_ga_* Maintains session state for Google Analytics 4. 2 years

You can opt out at any time by visiting our site from a browser that has not accepted analytics cookies, or by clearing your cookies and choosing Essential only on the banner.

Payment processing

When you click Upgrade to Pro, you are redirected to a hosted checkout page on checkout.stripe.com, operated by Stripe. Stripe may set their own cookies on that domain to secure and process your payment. These cookies are outside StompLab's control and are governed by Stripe's privacy policy. No Stripe cookies are set on stomplab.net.

Local storage

We use your browser's local storage (not a cookie) to remember certain preferences. Local storage data is never sent to our servers. The following keys are stored:

  • theme: remembers your preferred colour scheme (light or dark mode).
  • cookies_consent: stores your analytics cookie consent choice.
  • tour_completed: records whether you have dismissed the new-user feature tour, so it is not shown again on subsequent visits.

How to control cookies

You can control and delete cookies through your browser settings. Note that disabling cookies will prevent you from signing in, as the session cookie is required for authentication. For instructions, see your browser's help documentation.

Changes to this policy

We may update this policy from time to time. The "Last updated" date at the top of this page will reflect any changes.
